Responsibilities

  • Comply with company Health and Safety procedures and safe working practices
  • Carry out mechanical repairs
  • Carry out electrical repairs
  • Carry out routine services / maintenance
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical faults
  • Carry out computer diagnostic and analysis
  • Test drive vehicles before and after repairs
  • Recommend preventive measure repairs to the manager
  • Record jobs and inspection documents on a daily basis
  • Supervise junior technicians and give guidance and instruction
  • Use garage equipment and tools correctly
  • Keep the garage equipment, tools and the general workplace clean and tidy

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years proven work experience in a garage
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in a garage
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing manual and automatic gearboxes
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing diesel and petrol engines
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing components within the fuel system
  • Hands on experience in replacing components within the brake system
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing steering and suspension components
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing components within the cooling system
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing components within the heating system
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing clutches
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing drive shafts
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing exhausts
  • Hands on experience in replacing tyres
  • Hands on experience in performing wheel alignment
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing general body and interior parts
  • Hands on experience in repairing and/or replacing electrical components
  • Hands on experience using computer diagnostics and analysis equipment
  • Hands on experience using specialised tools and equipment
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and effectively
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Able to perform individually and as part of a team
  • Good time management skills
  • Driven and determined
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Valid Cat B driver’s licence

Desirable

  • Land Rover Licensed Automotive Service Technician
  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
  • Valid Cat C driver’s licence
