£2,500 donation to Southern Heartbeat
We are proud to make a donation to Southern Heartbeat, a local charitable organisation raising money to provide defibrillators and first-aid training to the Falkland Islands.
With the Community Matters Scheme we help local charities every month.
Set up in 2004, the Charity Committee has donated over £230,000 to various local charities, sporting groups and events. These have come in the form of monetary donations, prizes, purchase of equipment and sponsorships.
The Charity Committee have a dedicated Facebook page to showcase our support of these charities and we encourage members of the community to approach us if they believe we can be of assistance.

FIC presented a cheque for £1,500 to the annual Falkland Islands Mid-winter Swim.
The Falkland Islands Company and their insurance partner Caribbean Alliance Insurance have jointly donated £10,000 to The Falkland Islands Games Association ahead of the islands being represented in Gibraltar.
The Falkland Islands Fire & Rescue Service received a donation of £200 from our Community Matters Scheme. The funds were used to support the Santa’s grotto organised by the Falkland Islands Emergency Services.
We presented a cheque for £223.64 to the FI Hockey Association as part of our Community Matters Scheme.
We popped up to Liberty Lodge to present a cheque for a donation of £1,000, split between the Stephen Jaffray Memorial Fund and SAMA 82 in memory of our dear colleague Ellen Davis.
We were very pleased to present a cheque for £195.59 to the Cancer Support and Awareness Trust from our Community Matters Scheme.
We were thrilled to go along to the Stanley Swimming Club last week to present them with a cheque from the Green Token Scheme for £150.21.
The Falkland Islands Company along with other local retailers signed up to an introduction of a 5p charge on plastic carrier bags in 2016.
