We support a variety of local initiatives every month
Set up in 2004 as the Charity Committee, the renamed Community Engagement Team has donated over £250,000 to various local charities, sporting groups and events. These have taken the form of monetary donations, prizes, purchases of equipment and sponsorships.
The Community Engagement Team has a dedicated Facebook page to showcase our support of these initiatives and we encourage members of the community to approach us if they believe we can be of assistance. We made a donation of £2000 to Lighthouse Seafarers Mission for this years Christmas Tree Festival. Monies will be used to purchase new decorations and other items, such as lights which will all prove to enhance the festival.
We were pleased to present the Stanley Nursery Alliance with a £400 cheque from the Carrier Bag Fund. The money was used to order arts and craft supplies for the charity.
The Falkland Islands Company presented a cheque for £600 to the 1st Falkland Islands Scout Group from the company’s Carrier Bag Fund. We were delighted to hand over a cheque worth £500 to Falklands Conservation. The funds were used for the Conservation Ball, the NGO’s annual fundraiser event.
The FIC will support dementia friends in Stanley by exposing around 10% of the total workforce to a dementia training course. These colleagues from customer-facing roles will then better understand how we can all better support those in our community who are living with dementia.
FIC is proud to hand over £295 from the Carrier Bag Fund to the Community Activity Hub, a local charity that brings communal activities to the vulnerable adults within the community.

The FIMNT received a donation of £164.03 from our Community Matters Scheme, which will be used to support restoration work to the Cape Pembroke Lighthouse.
The Alex McGhie Fund received £117.72 from our Community Matters Scheme. The charity fundraises money to help make a difference in the lives of children with special needs and their families.
